rename the go module path from github.com/dropalldatabases/sif to
github.com/vmfunc/sif across go.mod, all imports, the golangci exclude
list, release install docs and docs. pure string rename, no logic change.
CMS only flagged Drupal on X-Drupal-Cache: HIT or the Drupal 7 Drupal.settings
marker, so Drupal 8-11 went undetected: a MISS cache header was ignored, and
cdn-fronted sites serve none of those markers in the body at all. verified live
that london.gov.uk and georgia.gov (both Drupal) were missed.
key on the Drupal-specific headers instead: any X-Drupal-Cache or
X-Drupal-Dynamic-Cache, plus X-Generator naming Drupal. these survive cdn
caching. drupalSettings (8+) and Drupal.settings (7) cover uncached bodies.
detectWordPress treated any 2xx on /wp-login.php, /wp-admin/ or /wp-config.php
as wordpress, but the http client follows redirects and many sites soft-404
(200 for every path) or catch-all redirect to their homepage. a probed path
then returns 200 without being wordpress at all, so plain static sites and
marketing pages were flagged as wordpress.
read the probed response and require one of the existing wordpress markers in
its body before counting it. a real /wp-login.php still references wp-includes
assets, so genuine detection holds.
detectWordPress flagged any page whose body merely contained the word
"wordpress", so sites that only mention it (wp-hosting marketing, comparison
pages) were misreported: acquia.com, a Drupal site, was detected as WordPress.
wp-content, wp-includes and wp-json already identify a real install and appear
on every wordpress page, so the bare word adds only false positives. drop it.
detectJoomla matched any body containing the lowercase word "joomla", so pages
that merely mention it (joomla hosting marketing like hostinger.com) were
misreported as Joomla. the canonical Joomla! generator tag is capitalised, so
the lowercase match also missed sites whose only tell is that tag.
match the Joomla! generator meta tag and the joomla asset paths
(/media/vendor/joomla, /media/system/js/core.js) instead. keying on the meta
attribute rather than the plain tagline also rejects prose that quotes it.
go only returns a conn to the idle pool when the body is read to EOF
before Close. the header-only and early-return scan paths closed an
unread body, leaking the conn and forcing a fresh dial each request.
route those close sites through httpx.DrainClose so the tuned pool from
phase 1 actually gets reused. body-read paths (scanner/io.ReadAll) are
left untouched.
every scanner spun up its own &http.Client, so there was no single place
to apply a proxy, custom headers, a cookie or a rate limit. add an
internal/httpx package that builds one configured transport at startup and
hand it to every scanner via httpx.Client(timeout), keeping behavior
identical when nothing is set (plain client when Configure was never
called).
- httpx.Configure wires -proxy (http/https/socks5), -H/--header, -cookie
and -rate-limit into a package-level RoundTripper that paces via a
rate.Limiter and only sets headers the caller hasn't already, so a
scanner's explicit api key still wins.
- route the scan/wordlist downloads that used http.DefaultClient through
the shared client too; ports tcp dialing is left untouched.
- clamp -threads to a floor of 1: it feeds wg.Add across the scanners, so
0 was a silent no-op and a negative value panicked the waitgroup.
document the new flags in the readme, usage docs and man page.
`strings.Split(url, "://")[1]` was copy-pasted in 18 spots and panics on a
schemeless target (index out of range). add a small stripScheme helper in the
scan package - and a guarded equivalent in logger, which cant import scan - so
a bare host degrades gracefully instead of crashing the scan.
rolls the (c) 2022-2025 banner to 2022-2026 across all go files, the
startup banner in sif.go, and the header-check workflow's expected
format. comment-only, nothing else changes.
