Supported Versions

We provide pre-built packages for Windows 10 or later.

The final version to support Windows 7/8 was 2.10.3 (2026-2-22).

If you are using an unsupported version of Windows, please see our guide on compiling Cockatrice on Windows to create an installer that works for your system.

Installation Guide

Note that this guide is based on installing on Windows 10 and installing on Windows 11 may differ slightly.

To install one of our pre-built packages, download the appropriate file from here. If you do not see your version on the main page, please follow the link to All available downloads to see if we support a pre-built package for it.

If you are using Microsoft Edge, you may receive a warning that Cockatrice "isn't commonly downloaded". To continue the download, click See More, then the three horizontal dots, then Keep, then use the dropdown menu to select Keep Anyway. You can also Report this file as safe to suggest to Microsoft that our application is not harmful.

Once downloaded, open the file. Windows Defender will warn you that it prevented the installer from starting. Click More Info then Run Anyway then click Yes on the User Account Control pop up.

Once the installer starts, click Next then read through the license and click I Agree.

On the next screen, you have two options. Choose Normal Installation to install Cockatrice in the same way you would install any other program. Choose 'Portable Mode' if you would like to install Cockatrice in its own, self-contained folder. This is useful if you want to be able to move Cockatrice around from computer to computer.

Click Next with your choice selected. If you chose Normal Installation, select the components you would like to install and click Next. Choose the location you would like to install Cockatrice in and then click Install. Click Finish after the install completes to exit the installer.
